Stadiafile 2.0
What’s a new website without a new logo?? And besides I was getting tired of looking at the Radio font of the Stadiafile script. I love the architecture of stadiums but I really love stadium signage. Especially in these times of lockdown, I travel the world via Google Street View, roaming the outside of stadiums around the world. In particular I’ve been spending time outside the stadiums of Buenos Aires. British stadium historian Simon Inglis claimed Buenos Aires has the most 30,000+ seat stadiums of any city in the world. I love that stat!
I was outside Estadio Libertadores de América home of C.A. Independiente of the Argentine Primera División. I was caught dead in my tracks by this sign outside the main entrance along Ricardo Enrique Bochini. Not only is the font wonderfully simple, bold and clear but I just love the subtle beauty of the shadow being cast inside the letter via the bent metal letter. I set out to find the font, my favourite Vllage Type Foundry, social media couldn’t find the particular font. Then my good friend Dylan Jhirad, Director of Graphic Design at David Brody Bond Architects in New York came to my rescue - Gotham Bold. And history was made, Stadiafile 2.0 has a new word mark. It is stripped back, alludes to the great sign of C.A. Independiente and takes a proud spot atop the new website. I hope you like it. I’ve incorporated an ‘internal’ drop shadow for the Browser Icon and social media logo.
